Beautiful hardwood laid without acclimation, planning, or a level base will gap in winter, buckle in summer, and creak underfoot. The wood is rarely the problem.
A clean layout, proper moisture control, and patient craftsmanship separate a floor that looks incredible for twenty years from one that needs work in two. That care is exactly what gets cut to hit a low bid.
Board direction, pattern, transitions, and borders planned room by room on paper, before we cut anything.
We test the slab or subfloor and let the wood acclimate to your home’s humidity the step skipped installs regret.
We measure, check the existing floor and subfloor, and give you a clear written quote.
Old flooring comes out cleanly and leaves with us. The space is cleared and ready.
We inspect, repair, and level the subfloor so the new floor has a solid, flat base.
Your new flooring goes in with care, then we clean up and walk the job with you.
Hardwood is detail work. It gets installed by people who have done it for years, not whoever is free that week.
Herringbone and chevron are easy to do wrong. We do them right, with tight seams and true angles.
We give the wood the time it needs in your home so it does not fight your floor later.
Every space is different, so we quote each job after seeing it. A few things shape the final number:
You get one clear, written estimate before any work starts. No deposit pressure, no guessing.
Honest numbers, because that’s the brand:
Scope
Typical installed range*
Engineered hardwood, straight lay
$10 – $16 / sq ft
Solid hardwood, nail-down
$12 – $20 / sq ft
Herringbone / chevron patterns
$16 – $28 / sq ft
Subfloor leveling (when needed)
$2 – $6 / sq ft added
*Ranges reflect typical LA-area projects; species, grade, and prep condition move the number. Your itemized estimate is free and fixed before work starts.
What moves the price most: how much prep the subfloor needs, wood species and grade, pattern complexity, and furniture/appliance handling. Beware of quotes that don’t mention prep. That cost shows up later, one way or another.
A typical 800–1,200 sq ft hardwood install takes 3–5 working days including prep, plus acclimation time (usually 3–5 days with the wood on site before we start).
Yes glue-down engineered hardwood is the standard method for LA slab homes. We moisture-test every slab first; if it fails, we install a vapor barrier before proceeding.
If it's out of the manufacturer's flatness tolerance (usually 3/16" over 10 ft), yes otherwise you get movement, noise, and a voided warranty. We check this at the estimate, not after demolition.
